Obituary

PETERSBURG -- Funeral services for Manuel Gonzalez, 89, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Arnold Bravo officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at the church at 7 p.m. today. Mr. Gonzalez died at 10:05 a.m. Sunday, June 28, 2004, in Petersburg. He was born Dec. 6, 1914, in San Antonio. He lived in the West Texas area since 1950 and worked for the railroad for several years. He retired from farming a few years ago. In 1950, he married Petra Garza in Piedras Negras, Mexico. She died June 6, 1989. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Victoria and Rodolfo Arriaga of Amarillo, Guadalupe Moreno and Benancio of Austin and Virginia and Carlos Esparza of Petersburg; two brothers, Jesus Pena of Eagle Pass and Luis Pena of Michigan; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
