Obituary

Johnny Gonzalez, 66, of Plainview passed away on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Arsenio Redulla and Deacon Andy Gonzalez officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
A rosary will be said at 6 p.m. today, Jan. 5, 2014, at the funeral home.
Johnny was born on Aug. 13, 1947, in Moorehead, Minn., to Guadalupe and Delfina Gonzalez. He married Gloria Guerra on August 16, 1969, in Plainview. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was a Knight of Columbus and taught CCE classes for eight years.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Gonzalez of Plainview; six children, Priscilla Becerra and husband Oscar of Kress, Michelle Gonzalez of Lubbock, Tim Gonzalez of Katy, Chris Gonzalez and wife Monica of Plainview, Andy Gonzalez and wife Gracie of Plainview and Ashley Gonzalez of Lubbock; six brothers, Pablo Gonzalez of Plainview, Guadalupe Gonzalez of Amarillo, Deacon Andy Gonzalez of Amarillo, Juan Esteven Gonzalez of Lubbock, Maria de Jesus Gonzalez of New Mexico and Jose Sanchez of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren; and three stepsisters, Sgt. Veronica Sanchez of Hawaii, Juanita Sanchez of Plainview and Maria Sanchez of Plainview.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Gracie Sanchez Resendez; his sister Mary "Nena" Lerma; and two grandsons, Aaron John Becerra and Ivan Isaiah Gonzalez.
