Goebel, Mahlon L.

Graveside services for Mahlon L. Goebel, 81,of Lubbock will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Abernathy Cemetery with the Rev. Marvin James officiating.

Burial arrangements are by Abell Funeral Home.

Mr. Goebel died Thursday, Sept.26, 2002, at his residence.

He was born March 29, 1921, in Abernathy where he grew up. He moved to Lubbock after graduating from New Deal High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in July 1942. He was discharged in November of 1946 and retired from Santa Fe Railroad in 1981 after 31 years of service.

On June 20, 1951, he married Candy McAteer in Lubbock. She died April 15,1981. He married Eloise Kelley on Nov. 30, 1981, in Lubbock.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Debra Dupler of Lubbock; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A son, Rodney Edmunds, died in March 2001.

The Family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
