Obituary

Chester B. (Chet) Gilmore, beloved brother, uncle and friend to many, of Petersburg, departed this life Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, in Petersburg at the age of 60. He was born June 29, 1944 in Fontana, N.C. to the late Charles Edward and Onie Hanselman Gilmore. Chester graduated from Walnut Springs High School in Walnut Springs, Texas.

Upon retirement from the Lubbock State School in 1997, where he was employed in the maintenance department, he moved from Lubbock to Petersburg. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. Chet possessed a great love of people and his happy, easygoing attitude brought a smile to those who knew and loved him.

Those left to mourn his passing include two brothers, Bill Gilmore and wife Carol of Illinois and Lester Gilmore and wife Carol of Petersburg: two sisters, Mary Ann McCorkle of Dallas and Betty Robertson and husband Charles of Maryester, Fla. Also surviving him are his three nieces, Keri, Gina and Teri; four grandnieces and two grandnephews. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at White Memorial Chapel in Idalou with the Rev. Ted Wilson of Petersburg officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home of Idalou.
