Gatica, Juan Inez

Rosary for Juan Inez Gatica, 48, of Abernathy will be at 8 p.m. today in St. Isidore Catholic Church with Rev. Luis Dussan, pastor, officiating. The Rev. Glen Rosendale of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Ralls will assist.

Mass will be celebrated at noon Saturday in the same church with the same officiant.

Burial will follow in Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy.

Gatica died at his residence on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998.

He was born in Sinton on Jan. 21, 1950. He moved to Abernathy from Shallowater in 1960. He married Lida Salcedo in Abernathy on April 17, 1973. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, where he previously taught CCD classes and was a member of the Cursillista.

Survivors include his wife, Lida Gatica of Abernathy; two sons, Juan Gatica of Abernathy and Rafael Gatica of Abernathy; a daughter, Maria Cortez of Abernathy; his parents, Juan and Lucia Gatica of Abernathy; a brother, Jose A. Gatica of Abernathy; three sisters, Janie Esparza of Petersburg, Rosa Maria Barron of Phoenix, Ariz., and Ennis Luera of Houston; and three grandchildren.
