Aletha Smith Garner
Funeral services for Aletha Smith Garner, 89, of Olney, formerly of Plainview, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church with Scotte Clark of Olney officiating.
Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Mrs. Garner died Saturday, March 13, 2004, in Olney.
She was born Sept. 26, 1914, in Tell, Texa, to the late Charlie F. and Dora (Cosper) Smith. She married Archie Garner on Feb. 9, 1936, in Tell. He died Oct. 5, 1981.
She moved from Childress to Plainview in 1943 and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, formerly Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a hairdresser.
Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte McLaughlin of Ruidoso, N.M; three brothers, Shorty Smith of Daingerfield, C.W. (Dub) Smith of Borger and J.C. Smith of Tell; two sisters, Laura Smith of Arlington and Gladys Timmons of Tell; grandchildren Lezlie Thompson and husband Ryan, Wes McLaughlin and wife Pam and Valorie Mahler and husband Kelly; and great-grandsons Trey, Ty and Ky.
Two brothers, Bud Smith and Glenn Smith, are deceased.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. until service time and suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
