Obituary

Funeral Mass for Robert G. Garcia, 65, of Hale Center will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Theresa's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Hale Center. A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Mr. Garcia died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, in Plainview. He was born May 14, 1946, in Grant, Mich. He married Maria Sonia Flores on April 30, 1999, in Plainview. He was a vineyard contractor for 40 years before working at Quarterway Gin for 20 years. In 1990 he moved to Hale Center from Plainview where he was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert G. Garcia Jr. of Houston and Gerardo Garcia of Austin; two daughters, Melissa Gutierrez of Odessa and Jasmine Garcia of Austin; three brothers, Joe Garcia of Hale Center and Luis Garcia and Eddie Garcia, both of Lubbock; two sisters, Gracie Ruvalcaba and Ulga Garcia, both of Lubbock: and five grandchildren.
