Obituary

PETERSBURG - Funeral Mass for Raul Garcia, 53, of Lubbock, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Petersburg with the Rev. Timothy Judd officiating. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery by White Funeral Home of Lubbock. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today and Wednesday in the funeral home chapel in Lubbock. Mr. Garcia died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002. He was born July 26, 1948, in Smithville. He lived in Petersburg before moving to Lubbock in 1999 and was employed at Hillcrest Country Club. In 1991 he married Dina Athey. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Manuel Ray and Roy Garcia, both of Lubbock and John Albert Champion of Petersburg; five daughters, Mary Ann Garcia and Andrea Champion, both of Petersburg and Erlinda Garcia, Teresa Jones and Patricia Garcia, all of Lubbock; two brothers, Joe and Albert Garcia Jr., both of Lubbock; a sister, Anna Mecham of Seattle, Wash.; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
