Obituary

Funeral services for Amelia M. Garcia, 88, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Hale Center with the Rev. Elias Moralez officiating. Burial will follow in Hale Center Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Garcia died Monday, March 3, 2008, at her residence. She was born Oct. 20, 1919, in Piedra Negras, Mexico. She married Juan G. Garcia on May 22, 1938, in Aqua Dulce. He died in 2002. She moved to Hale Center in 1967 and was a longtime member of the Church of the Living God. Survivors include five sons, Enrique Garcia of Dallas, Gonzalo Garcia and Pedro Garcia of Lubbock, Isaias Garcia of Odessa and Saloman Garcia of Hale Center; seven daughters, Rebecca Garcia of Lawrence, Kan., Carmen Munguia of Rochester, Miss., and Ester Jimenez, Delia Espinosa, Alicia Rodriquez, Amelia Placencio and Maria Rosa of Hale Center; four brothers, Daniel Macias, Juan Macias, Antonio Macias and Jose Macias, all of San Antonio; two sisters, Sara Macias and Elisa Hermosa of San Antonio; 57 grandchildren; 127 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
