Obituary

HALE CENTER - Funeral services for Juan G. Garcia, 84 will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Elias Morales officiating. Evening services will be at 7 tonight in the Church of the Living God with Rev. Morales officiating. Burial will be in Hale Center Cemetery by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center. Mr. Garcia died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002. He was born on May 6, 1918, in Falfurias and married Amelia Macias on May 22, 1938, in Agua Dulce. He moved to Hale Center in 1968 from Alice. He was a farmer and was employed by Clarence Ashmore for many years. Survivors include his wife; five sons, Enrique Garcia of Dallas, Gonzalo Garcia and Pedro Garcia, both of Lubbock, Isaias Garcia of Odessa and Salomon Garcia of Hale Center; seven daughters, Rebecca Garcia of Battle Creek, Mich., Carmen Munguia and Ester Jimenez, both of Plainview, Delia Espinosa, Alicia Rodriguez, and Amelia Placencio, all of Hale Center, and Maria Rosa of Sebastian; two brothers, Pablo Garcia and Moises Garcia, both of Lansing, Mich. three sisters, Lydia Garza of Tulia, Maria Cavasos of LaBelles, Fla. and Gloria Nunez of Lake Dallas; 57 grandchildren; 107 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Two sons are deceased. Juan Antonio Garcia died in November 2000, and Roberto Garcia died in March 1999. The body will be at the Church of the Living God from 5 p.m. today until noon Friday.
