Abbott, Earl, Mrs. (Lorine (Loafer) King)

Lorine Abbott, 82, of Plainview, passed away on March 26, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, at Lemons Funeral Home. Lorine was born Aug. 19, 1933, in Caddo Mills, Texas, to Curtis and Dora Lee (Newton) King. Her family moved to Plainview in 1940. She married Earl Abbott on Oct. 6, 1960, in Plainview Texas. They were married until his passing in 1992. Lorine worked as a nurse's aide for over 20 years at Nichols Hospital in Plainview. She was a person who loved to care for people, which was reflected by her choice of profession. Her family remembers her as a wonderful cook. Lorine was very creative and enjoyed sewing and crocheting for her family as well. "Loafer" as she was lovingly nicknamed by her husband years ago is described as a "Firecracker." There was never any doubt about what Lorine was thinking. She was an open book and you could always trust that what she told you was truth. She enjoyed fishing and being outdoors and she loved listening to country music. She attended the Apostolic Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church for many years. She was preceded in death by Earl, her husband of 32 years; three brothers, Adrian King, Donald King and J.W. King and five sisters, Vernice Morgan, Polly Sisco, Pauline Ross, Louise Carr and Bobbie Cargill. Survivors include one son, Rickey Abbott of Weatherford, Texas; three daughters, Debra Proctor and husband Donny of Ypsilanti, MI; Teresa Abbott and Tina King, both of Plainview; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
