Obituary

Funeral services for Archie Gallington, 84, formerly of Plainview, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at United Baptist Church in Plainview with the Rev. M.L. White officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Bartley Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Gallington died Thursday Sept. 18, 2008, at his residence. He was born July 16, 1924, in Lockesburg, Ark., to Allen and Roda Gallington. He married Hattie Roberts on Oct. 26, 1967, in Plainview. She died in 1992. He farmed and worked at area gins most of his life before retiring and moving to Amarillo. He was a member of United Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Autry Gallington and Wic Haley, both of Denver; five daughters, Helen Haley and Velma Springer, both of Amarillo, Delma Ross of Tyler, Cora Bennette of Dime Box and Evelyn Acy of Plainview; one sister, Dorothy Baker of Silverton; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
