Obituary

Nicolasa A. Gallardo, 78, of Plainview, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2013. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Reymundo Manriquez officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A rosary will be held at 5 p.m. today, May 31, 2013 at the funeral home. Nicolasa was born on March 25, 1935, to Reyes and Maria Arteaga in Mexico. She married Julian Gallardo on July 9, 1999. She was a daughter of migrant workers. She moved to Plainview when she was 16. She married Luis Ramos and he preceded her in death in 1984. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and served as a member of the Guadalupanas. She is preceded in death by her first husband Luis Ramos; two daughters, Leticia Ramos Hinojosa and Maria DeJesus; one son, Tomas Ramos; her parents, Reyes and Maria Arteaga; and two grandchildren, Laura Luevano and Ray Ramos Jr. She is survived by her husband, Julian Gallardo of Plainview; five children, Lupe Luevano and husband Ramon of Kansas City, Mo., Lousia Gomez and husband Jesse of Cleburne, Angel Ramos and wife Martha of Plainview, Ray Ramos and wife Priscilla of Plainview, and Lori Caballero and husband Darrell of Plainview; seven sisters; Leonor Arteaga, Mary Ramos, Piedad Ferrer, Alicia Perez, Juana Solis, Stella Escobar and Phyllis Perdomo; two brothers, Santos Arteaga and Salvador Arteaga; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
