Visitation for William Chester Fudge, 80, of Hale Center will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2007, at Abell Funeral Home in Hale Center. A private memorial service and burial in Hale Center Cemetery will held at a later date. Mr. Fudge died at his residence May 16, 2007, in Hale Center, Texas. He was born Sept. 15, 1926, in Little Rock, Ark. When he was young, his family moved to San Diego, Calif., where he graduated from Grossmont High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He married Charlene Harp on Sept. 11, 2005, in Hale Center, Texas. He was led to the Lord by his wife, Charlene, and daughter on April 23, 2007, so his eternal home will be with the Father in Heaven. He was a very kind, compassionate, giving, humble man who loved to dance, talk politics and religion. One of his favorite sayings was, "It doesn't take brains to spend money, it takes brains to save money, so you would be money ahead to save for a rainy day or retirement." He had made many friends in Hale Center at the Owl Cafe and attending First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Charlene Fudge of Hale Center; two daughters, Sally and her husband Terry Wright of Hale Center and Susan Fudge of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one son, Steve and his wife Debi Fudge of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one brother, Tom Fudge of Versailles, Mo.; one sister, Eva Jo Berry of Stover, Mo.; six grandsons, Bryan, Doug, Michael, Tony, Dylan and Austin; seven granddaughters, April, Nichole, Sierra, Chelsea, Kandie, Mickey, and Liana; five great-grandsons, Kyle, Auston, Tyler, Evan and Dylan; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Wooten Fudge and Chester Lawrence Fudge; a brother, Bill Fudge; a sister, Geneva Manry; a son, Richard Fudge; and a grandson, Richard Allen Fudge.
