HALE CENTER ? Graveside services for Merle Franklin, 78, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview with the Rev. Gene Meacham, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial arrangements are by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home.
Mr. Franklin died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, in Heritage Oaks Nursing Home in Lubbock.
He was born Sept. 22, 1921, in Sidney. He was an aircraft mechanic in Uvalde prior to entering the service. He served with the Army Air corps during World War II in Guam. He moved to Hale Center in 1952 from May.
He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars and of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Danny Ray Franklin of Bullard, Gary Wayne Franklin of Lubbock and Robert Lynn Franklin of Waco? a sister, Polly Ann Jones of Lake Brownwood; a brother, Derrell Franklin of San Antonio; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Freeman-Abell Funeral Home in Hale Center from 9:30-10:30 a.. Friday before the service. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, 8008 Slide Road, Lubbock, TX 79424.
