Dr. Fowler died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2000, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 16, 1912, in Fontana, Kan. He attended Fontana schools and graduated from school in Osawatomie. He attended the University of Kansas and Kansas University Medical Center. He was in private practice with his father in Osawatomie, and served with the Arm during World War II.

He returned to private practice with his father after his discharge from the Army. He retired after 20 years from the Veterans Administration Hospital in El Paso and moved to Plainview in 1995.

He was involved with the election board in Osawatomie in Miami County.

He was a member of First Christian Church and the Rotary Club. He was a collector of antiques, a wood worker, artist, photographer, rock collector, stone setter and enjoyed reading and animals.

On April 9, 1976, he married Barbara Davey in Kansas.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Martha Mundis of Kansas City, Mo., and Margaret Johnson of Plano; one son, Joseph Fowler of Osawatomie; two sisters, Eleanor Stephens and Maxine Swan, both of Carmel, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Diabetes Association.
