Obituary

COTTON CENTER - Graveside services for Mary Fort, 96, of LaJara, Colo., will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Center Plains Cemetery at Cotton Center with the Rev. Ken Rowland officiating. Burial arrangements are by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center.
Mrs. Fort died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at her residence in Colorado. She was born Nov. 14, 1905, in Chickasha, Okla. She was a Methodist and enjoyed crocheting, quilting and card games. Her husband, James W. Fort Sr., died on March 21, 1983. Survivors include one daughter, Ina Davis of LaJara; two brothers, Howard Shackelford of Cotton Center and Bennie Shackelford of Lake Kiowa; three sisters, Wilma Gross of Weatherford, Lorretta Stavenhagen of Granbury and Lorene Hart of Weatherford; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. Her body will be at the funeral home in Hale Center on Tuesday from 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
