Rev. David E. Floyd-Harp, 51, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Alpine, died suddenly Monday, June 21, 2004, in Alpine. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the First United Methodist Church in Alpine. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2004, in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy.

Rev. Floyd-Harp was born in Lubbock July 3, 1952 to Elbert and Clara Harp. David was a graduate of Abernathy High School. He received his B.S. degree from Wayland University and his M.S. degree from Iliff School of Theology. He pastored Methodist and Baptist churches in Colorado and Far West Texas. He married Phyllis Floyd Aug. 19, 1972. He was a member of the Lion's Club and Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Floyd-Harp of Alpine; a daughter, Shirley Harp of Wichita Falls; a son, Michael Harp of Seattle, Wash.; a brother, Dr. Daryl Harp of Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister, Carol Norman of Plano; his parents, Elbert and Clara Harp of Abernathy and Marvin and Jerry Floyd of County Line.
