Obituary

Funeral services for Virginia Fisher, 76, will be at 1 p.m. Friday in New Jerusalem Baptist Church, at Finney, with the Rev. David M. Gardner, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mrs. Fisher died at 6:20 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2002, in Covenant Hospital. She was born April 25, 1926, in Tyler, the daughter of the late John Henry and Anne Mae Hendley. She grew up in Tyler and graduated from Tyler High School. She moved to Plainview to attend nursing school. She nursed at Plainview Hospital and served as a mid-wife. She was a member of Emanuel Church of God in Christ and the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include one daughter, Joe Lena Harris of Amarillo; an adopted son, Robert Henry Smith of Albuquerque, N.M.; one sister, Delores Hendley of Los Angeles, Calif.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry and Mary Hendley of Las Vegas, Nev., and Thomas Eugene and Jackie Hendley of Tyler; two adopted granddaughters, Tami Savage and Porsche Greene of Amarillo; and several nieces and nephews.
