Obituary

Funeral services for Maclovio "Mac" Fierro, 81, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Jose G. Silva officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview. A prayer service will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Fierro died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at Covenant Medical Center Lubbock. He was born Sep. 12, 1924, in El Paso, to Jose and Ignacia Fierro. He married Catalina Alvarez on May 10, 1948, in Mexico. He farmed in West Texas most of his life. He also drove a school bus for Kress ISD for many years. He was treasurer of Hart Mission Baptist Church and an usher for vacation Bible school. He was a member of Alfa y Omega Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Esmeralda Fierro; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Cruz Fierro, Ignacia Nancy and Edward Hernandez and Soila A. Fierro, all of Plainview, Jackie and Craig Andrus of Kress and Catalina Garcia Zuniga and husband, Micheal, of Amarillo; one brother, Jose Fierro of Las Cruces, N.M.; four sisters, Margarita Cisneros and Carmen Fierro, both of El Paso, and Enedina Vacquera and Lidia Covarruvia, both of Hereford; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. His parents; two daughters, Ignacia Fierro and Maria Fierro; and one brother, Tereso Fierro, are deceased.
