HALE CENTER - Funeral services for Ovie Fields, 92, will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with Jackie King officiating. Burial will be in the Hale Center Cemetery by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center. Mr. Fields died Thursday, July 4, 2002, in Fort Worth. He was born on April 12, 1910 in Cranfills Gap, Bosque County and married Ina Dee Pederson on Jan. 6, 1932 in Cranfills Gap. He moved to Hale Center from Petersburg in 1950. He had previously lived in Cranfills Gap where he was involved in farming which he left to own and operate Fields Garage in Hale Center until his retirement in 1972. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and First United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Reba and James McMinn of North Richland Hills and three grandchildren and their spouses, Steven and Angie Fields, Shaen and Paulette McKnight and Devon and Jeff McCain; and two great-grandchildren, Carson and Graham McCain. His parents, four brothers and two sisters, and a son, Floyd LaVon Fields, are deceased. The family suggests memorials to the Hale Center Beautification Association or to the Hale Center Senior Citizens.
