Obituary

Barbara Ferguson, 72, passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at her residence in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Hale Center with Dr. Carrol Green officiating. Burial will follow in Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Barbara was born Nov. 25, 1935, in Lockney to Estle and Jewel Nigh. She grew up in Lockney before moving to Hale Center in 1952. She graduated from Hale Center High School in 1954 as the valedictorian of her class. She worked as an insurance secretary and bookkeeper for 42 years. She married James Ferguson on Feb. 29, 1956, in Clovis, N.M. They moved to Plainview in 1964. She was a Baptist. Survivors include her husband, James Ferguson of Plainview; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Steve Lemons of Hale Center and Lori and T. Leslie Gattis of Plainview; a son, Ray Ferguson of Gatesville; eight grandchildren, Kaitlen, Tiffany, Tyler, Scott, Lori, Jenesis, Brett and James Ray; and one great-grandchild, Leland. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, 3411 73rd St., Lubbock, TX 79423.
