El Paso-- No services will be held for Dr. Billy L. Farmer, 74, who died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, in El Paso.
Arrangements are by Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview.
Dr. Farmer was born April 14, 1929, in Birmingham, Ala. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Albama and Vanderbilt Medical School.
He served with the U.S. Army Medical Corps from 1954-62, attaining the rank of major.
He had lived in El Paso since 1963 and retired from his practice of dermatology in 1987. He authored two books on the origins of the universe.
He enjoyed sking, working out, golf and radio-controlled airplanes.
He married Rita Nusz in 1954.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Thad Bartley of Lubbock and Plainview and Fran and John Reynolds of Durango, Colo.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Alicia Farmer of El Paso and Jim and Tricia Farmer of Tempe, Ariz.; a brother, Don Farmer of Birmingham; a sister, Jan Witt of Birmingham; and 12 grandchildren, Paxton and Nicholas Bartley of Lubbock, Zach, Shane, Cody and Stoney of Durango, Alana and Dane Farmer of El Paso and Billy, Sean, Joey and Jimmy of Tempe.
The family suggests memorials to the Animal Rescue League of El Paso, P.O. Box 13065, El Paso, TX 79913 or to a favorite animal shelter.
