Obituary
Mervin Wayne Evans passed away Sunday, May 29, 2005, at 10:37 a.m. in Covenant Hospital of Plainview. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at First Baptist Church Sanctuary with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mr. Evans was born Oct. 4, 1942, in Plainview. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1960. He married Judy Ray James on Oct. 27, 1962, in Plainview. The Evans' moved to Tulia where they farmed until 1970. They then moved to Two Buttes, Colo., and farmed until 1976 and moved back to Plainview and farmed and became co-owner of Five Star Auctioneers. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Judy Ray Evans of Plainview; one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Greg Lee of Lubbock; one son and daughter-in-law, Kirk and Carol Evans of Lubbock. Marvin's greatest joy of all, came as he played "Popi" for his four grandchildren, Trevor Lee, Parker Lee, Courtney Evans and Zachary Evans, all of Lubbock. Memorials may be made to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, 600 S.W. 11th St., Amarillo, TX 79101; American Cancer Society, 3411 73rd St., Lubbock, TX 79423; American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231. The family will receive family and friends at Kornerstone Funeral Directors from 6:30-7:30 p.m. today.
