Obituary

M. Charles Evans Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center.

Mr. Evans died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, in Eads, Colo. He was born Feb. 18, 1941 in the Eagle Springs community, northwest of Abernathy, in Hale County. He graduated from Abernathy High School in 1959 and had been a lifelong Abernathy and Hale Center resident. He married Barbara McGuire on Feb. 22, 1981 in Hale Center. He was a member of the Hale Center Church of Christ and was a charter member and president of the Abernathy Riding Club. He farmed for 42 years. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Evans of Hale Center; five children, Sherry and Kathy Evans, both of Lubbock, Texas, Connor Evans and his wife, Shana of El Segundo, Calif., Stephanie McCall and her husband, Lee of Shallowater, Texas, and Mark Bell of Austin, Texas; parents, M.D. "Coot" and Beth Evans of Abernathy, Texas.; a sister, Peggy Escue of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, Randy Evans of La Junta, Colo.; four grandchildren, Mason Evans of El Segundo, Calif., Katy, Amanda and Adam McCall, all of Shallowater; four nieces, Carolyn and Sharon Escue, Toni Ervin, and Rhetta McGuire; and two nephews, Dan Evans and Robert McGuire.
