Evans, J.W., Mrs. (Tommie Jones Fox)
Funeral services for Tommie Fox Evans, 88, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Garland Street Church of Christ with Karl King, minister, and J.W. Hamby, an elder, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home.

Mrs. Evans died at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in Prairie House Living Center.

She was born April 7, 1912, in Fargo, Texas. She had worked as Lamar School cafeteria manager for several years, retiring in 1966. She was a member of the School Lunchroom Association and Garland Street Church of Christ.

On Aug. 20, 1936, she married Edward E. Fox in Plainview. He died Dec. 21, 1972. She married J.W. Evans on Dec. 30, 1973.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Margaret McCall of Plainview and Barbara and Kenneth Hill of Sulfur, La.; three sisters, Ellen Chiddix and Lorene Williams, both of Plainview, and Mozene Rattan of Amarillo; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A son, Edward Harold Fox, was killed in the Vietnam War. Five brothers and six sisters are also deceased.

The family suggests memorials to VistaCare Family Hospice, 4418 Olton Road, Plainview, TX 79072.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel.
