Evans, Alton Don

Memorial services for Alton Don Evans, 66, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Bartley Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Ritter, pastor of Seth Ward Baptist Church, officiating.

Arrangements are by Bartley Funeral Home.

Mr. Evans died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, in Care Inn of Plainview.

He was born June 14, 1937, in Plainview. He lived in Plainview and Vernon and was a self-employed auto mechanic. He also owned Don's Automotive in San Angelo for several years.

During the 1960's, he served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include one son, Donnie Walker of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Maurine Selby of Hereford and Berniece Donathan of Wildorado; three brothers, Herb Evans of Plainview, H.C. Evans of Hereford and Winston Evans of San Angelo; and three grandchildren.

His parents, Hoyt and Verda Evans; three brothers, Melvin Evans, Buddie Evans and Lonnie Evans; and two sisters, Patsy Arnold and Virginia Freeman, are deceased.

The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association.
