Born February 22, 1847, at Dover, Arkansas to John and Nancy Hamm Eubanks (who died at his birth). He left Arkansas at age 15 and settle in Cherokee County, Texas at Alto. He joined the Confederate service on the 29th of March 1862 for a three year enlistment or until the war ended. He was mustered into Co. ?E? of (Randall?s Raiders) the 28th Texas Cavalry.
Muster rolls of January and February 1864 last record Winfield Scott Eubanks as present. The regiment was listed among Confederate troops surrendered at Galveston, Texas on the 2nd of June 1865, but had ceased to exist by that late date. No capture or parole records exist regarding Winfield Scott.
By 1880 he was in Bell Co. TX farming and ranching. He married Madora Egan McCasland on the 12th of August 1883 in Davilla, Milam Co. TX and settled near Holland in Bell Co. TX. There were 7 children born to them.
Around 1908 the family moved west of Hale Center, TX where he farmed and bought and sold cattle.
By November 1921 he had moved the family to Olton, TX, where he died suddenly on the 23rd of January 1922, leaving his family in Hale And Lamb counties of Texas and on land he had homesteaded near Tatum NM.
