Elam, Charles Berry
Funeral Services for Charles Berry Elam, 86, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Samples, retired Baptist minister, and the Rev. Jay Simpson, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home.
Mr. Elam died at 8:20 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, in IHS Heritage Home of Plainview.
He was born March 27, 1916, in Gaines County. He grew up in the Aiken area where he attended schools. He farmed southeast of Plainview for 62 years, retired in 2000 and moved to Kress.
He was a member of First Baptist Church and was ordained as a deacon in Aiken in 1972.
On Dec. 3, 1937, he married Noreen Hamilton in Tulia.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters and son-in-law, Betty and Bob Bryan of Plainview; Carolyn and David Holden of Dripping Springs and Rhogene and Dan Easley of Amarillo; one brother, Bert Elam of Birmingham, Ala.; two sisters Jewell Hyatt of Tulia and Joyce Billington of Borger; four grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren.
A sister, Mary Bennett Elam, and a brother, Boyce Elam are deceased.
Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
