Obituary

Graveside services for Luella Carthel Edwards, 90, of Breckenridge, former Plainview resident, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery with Wayne Blackerby officiating. Burial arrangements are by Morehart Mortuary in Breckenridge. Mrs. Edwards died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, in Stephens Memorial Hospital in Breckenridge. She was born Oct. 18, 1913, in Lockney, to Milford and Estelee Carthel. She attended Lockney High School. On May 2, 1931, she married William Travis Edwards in Clovis, N.M., and they owned and operated Edwards Jewelry in Plainview for 15 years. She later was employed by Hughes Aircraft in Tucson, Ariz., for 10 years. While living in Plainview she was a member of the 11th and Amarillo Street Church of Christ. She moved from Plainview to Breckenridge in 1990 and was a member of Jeanette Street Church of Christ. Her parents, husband, a son and brother are deceased. Luella is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Nelda Bennett of Breckenridge; a granddaughter, Donna Miller of Amarillo; and grandson Donnie Bennett of Longmont, Colo.; five great-grandchildren, Michael Kilgore, Travis Bennett, Austin Bennett, Wesley Bennett and Randall Rogers; two great-great-grandchildren, Britney Kilgore and Taylor Rogers; and her sister, Louana Staggs. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Stephens County Cancer Society and may be left at Morehart Mortuary. Condolences may be left online at www.morehartmortuary.net.
