Obituary

Jimmy Loyd Edmiston, age 63, of Carlsbad, N.M., passed away Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. Jimmy was born on July 12, 1950, in Roswell, N.M. He grew up and graduated from high school in Jal, N.M. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church along with the rest of his family. He worked for El Paso Natural Gas and attended New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, N.M., and received his associate degree in drafting. He loved to design floor plans and was thrilled when his niece and her family built their house based on a design he made for them. He moved to Midland and worked for Arco Oil Co. as a draftsman for 20 years. He then moved to Plainview with his mother, Faye, after his father passed away. Jimmy worked as an assistant to the city engineer for the City of Plainview until retirement in January 2013. Upon retirement, he moved to Carlsbad, N.M., to be with his sister Kathy and her husband Roland. He was a loving son, brother and uncle, and was a man of strong faith in God. He is preceded in death by his parents, Faye and John Crawford Edmiston. He is survived by one sister, Kathy, and brother-in-law, Roland Caudill; two nieces, Angie Ballard, her husband Skeeter and their two daughters, Samantha and Erin; Gayla Cowart, her husband Curtis and their children, Austin and Haylea. He is also survived by his aunt Margie Schroeder and uncle Freddie Clements of Lubbock and numerous cousins who all loved him dearly. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Plainview First Baptist Church Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the charities of your choice or the First Baptist Church of Plainview.
