Obituary

A celebration of life for Lucile Ebeling will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at First United Methodist Church in Hale Center with the Rev. Jimmy Cameron officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop. Violet Lucile Ida Goebel was born Oct. 15, 1913, in Waco, Texas. She was the daughter of Moritz Roland and Agnes Dietz Goebel. She died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at her residence in Plainview, Texas. Mrs. Ebeling attended school in Waco and graduated from Waco High School in 1931. She graduated from Baylor University in 1935. She married Alfred Edward Ebeling of Round Mountain, Texas, on Feb. 22, 1936, in Waco. She then joined her husband on his farm in Cotton Center and later moved to Hale Center in 1982. She was an active member of Cotton Center United Methodist Church before moving to Hale Center where she was a member of First United Methodist Church. In 2005 Lucile joined her daughter and son-in-law in their home in Plainview. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, on May 27, 1985; her daughter, Nancy Jane Ebeling, on June 30, 2006; her parents; and three brothers, Harrington Goebel, Marvin Goebel and Morris Goebel. She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Carol Sue and Richard Purcell of Plainview; her much-loved grandsons and their wives, Todd and Erin Purcell of Cordova, Tenn., and Justin and Kim Purcell of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and two great-grandchildren, Frank Purcell of Cordova, Tenn., and Hailey Jane Purcell of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
