HALE CENTER - Funeral services for Velva Frances Brewer Eason, 89, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Elton Wyatt and the Rev. Ken Rowland, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Eason died Sunday morning, June 2, 2002, at her residence. She was born Oct. 1, 1912, in Lytton Springs. She moved to a farm southwest of Hale Center in 1927 with her parents, the late John and Dora Harris Brewer. She graduated from Hale Center High School in 1930 and attended Texas Tech University one semester before returning home to care for her father. She moved back to Lytton Springs with her parents and lived there until Dec. 11, 1933, when she married Jack Eason. They moved to the farm near Hale Center. He died in September 1986. She was a homemaker and was past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lemond Chapter #38. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and C.P. Smith of Hale Center; two grandchildren, Bill Smith of Fredricksburg and Linda Blount of Anton; four great-grandchildren; and her caregiver of six years, Nell Edwards. Two brothers and a sister also are deceased.
