Obituary

Bernice Gage Dutton of Lubbock, died on March 13, 2008. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at the Church of Christ in Hale Center with Silas Short of Post and nephew of Bernice, officiating. At her request her body was donated to the Texas Tech University Health Science Center. Bernice was born March 21, 1914, in Crosby County to James Belton and Nancy Louise Gage. She married Marvin Dutton on Dec. 25, 1931, in Clovis, N.M. Most of her life was spent in Hale Center before moving to Lubbock in 1998. She was a homemaker, professional seamstress, loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Bernice was preceded in death by an infant son, Marvin Douglas Dutton Jr.; her husband, Marvin Dutton; brother, Belton Gage; and granddaughter, Regan Caudle. Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Isla and Bill Whorton of Lubbock; a son, David and his wife, Betty, of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of Sisters Loving Arms and Vista Care Hospice for the love and outstanding care they provided for our loved one done over the past three years.
