Obituary
Funeral services for Dorothy "Dottie" Douglas, 85, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with Dr. Lewis Holland, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Douglass died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, in Covenant Hospital Plainview. She was born to Kenneth Crook and Edith Henderson Crook on Jan. 13, 1921, in Searcy, Ark. She married G.E. "Doug" Douglass on May 23, 1942, in an Army Chapel at Camp Robinson, Ark. She was a school teacher and worked in a defense plant during World War II. Dottie and Doug lived in Lubbock from 1950-57 where Dottie was an active member in the Junior League. They moved to Plainview in 1957, were members of First United Methodist Church where she played the piano for the Wesley Bible Class and cooked meals for others in need. She was a homemaker and mother of two children. She loved to play bridge and was a Master duplicate bridge player. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, G.E. "Doug" Douglass; one son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Sue Douglass of Plainview; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Ron Kersh of Hodgenville, Ky.; five granddaughters, Jennifer Martin, Melony Bishop, Melissa Hones, Lindley Douglass and Sarah Kersh; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Aileen Pickett of Pangburn, Ark. The family suggest memorials to First United Methodist Church, Meals on Wheels of Plainview or Ceta Canyon Methodist Camp. Viewing will be Friday morning to Saturday noon at the funeral home.
