Obituary

INGRAM - Charlsie Virginia Hunt Dewey, age 91, of Ingram passed from this life into glory May 9 at her home surrounded by loving family. She's run the race and finished her course. She was born April 2, 1917, at the family farm in Williamson County to C.F. (Charlie) and Alta Mae Hunt. She was the oldest of seven children. She graduated from Georgetown High School in 1936. She worked in Austin at the State School for two years. The family moved to Hale County where she met her husband, Richard K. Dewey. They were married Jan. 21, 1939. Two children were born to them, Janelle Dewey Vandiver and Richard Kenneth Dewey Jr. She was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She taught Sunday school and was very active in her church. Their lives together took them many places and led them to build a home and retire in the Ingram area. She was a member of Hunt Baptist Church for the past 28 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Wanda, Alta Marie and Marjorie.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Richard; two sisters, Sallie Terrell of Alvin and Evelyn Teal of Carthage; one brother, C.F. (Tex) Hunt of Shallowater; two children, Janelle Vandiver of Ingram and Kenneth Dewey of Jemez Springs, N.M.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today, May 12, 2008, at Grimes Funeral Chapels. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at Grimes Funeral Chapels with the Rev. Paul Pierce and the Rev. Bob Schmeltekopf officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Hale Center Cemetery, Hale Center, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hunt Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Harper or VistaCare Hospice.
