Darlene Denny, 77, of Plainview, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, surrounded by family. Zamora Darlene Denny was born on Oct. 9, 1936, in Eunice, N.M., to Carter and Bertha Mae (Phillips) Ford. Darlene and Lowell Denny were married in 1955 and had over 41 wonderful years together before his death in 1996. Darlene was self-employed for many years, as the owner, with her husband, of D and D Janitorial Service. It was the first cleaning business in Plainview, which she and Lowell originated. Darlene was a resident for many years at Lake Horner and loved it there. She was a member of the Horner Lake Club, and greatly enjoyed fishing and swimming. At the lake, she taught many of her family members to swim. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Darlene belonged to the Church of Christ. Darlene is survived by four sons: Gerald Denny and his wife, Barbara, of Richmond, Texas; Clinton Denny of Hobbs, N.M.; Dale Denny and his wife, Lori; and Darwin Denny and his wife, Dora, all of Plainview; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Denny; her granddaughter, Angela Martinez, in 2007; and 10 brothers and sisters. A private service is planned by the Denny family.
