Obituary
PETERSBURG - Funeral services for Alton W. Dendy, 79, of Petersburg, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Hancock, interim pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mr. Dendy died at 12:35 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, in University Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born Nov. 24, 1921, in Petersburg and married Frances Priddy on Nov. 11, 1942 in Petersburg. Mr. Dendy was raised in Petersburg, attended Becton and Farmer schools and graduated from Ralls High School. He was a farmer/rancher and also owned and operated Dendy's Discount Tires in Plainview for 15 years. He worked for Floydada Livestock Auction for several years and was a director of Producers Grain and
Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Riding Club, a 4-H leader and FFA leader. Mr. Dendy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Petersburg. Survivors include his wife; one daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Elmer "Frosty" Freese of Plainview; one son, Wayne R. Dendy of Clovis, NM; one brother, Edgar M. Dendy of Ralls; one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
