Deering, Lowery Gaines, Mrs. (Dorotha Rae McDaniel)
Abernathy-- Funeral services for Dorotha Rae Deering, 83, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Lowrie, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Deering died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, in Hale Center.
She was born Sept. 6, 1920, in Synder, the daughter of Charley and Lena McDaniel. She moved to Abernathy in 1948 where she was co-owner of Abernathy Floral in the 1950s and 1960s.
She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and was active in the Order of the Eastern Star.
On Oct. 17, 1936, she married Lowery Deering in Plainview. He died April 20, 1994.
Survivors include two sons, Billy Mack Deering of Kingman, Ariz., and Lowery Charles Deering of Abilene; two daughters, Jerry Nell Presley and Susie Ellis, both of Abernathy; a sister, Mona Donahoo of Henderson; 12 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
The family suggest memorials to Hospice or to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 411 Seventh St. Abernathy, TX 79311.
