Obituary

Glen R. Day, 92, of Plainview passed away on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kyle Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A family visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, at the funeral home. Glen was born on Aug. 16, 1922, to Gilbert and Cora Day in Palestine, Texas. He graduated from high school and attended Texas Tech. In 1942, he joined the United States Navy and served four years. He married Frances Joy Shepard on Sept. 27, 1947. He owned and operated Day's Cleaners for 51 years. Glen was a part of Elks Lodge of Plainview, the Plainview Country Club and a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Hazel Gordon and Evelyn Lewis. Glen is survived by his wife, Joy Day of Plainview; two daughters, Debbie Bass of Kress, and Carla Canon of Plainview; one son, Glen R. (Rusty) Day of Lubbock; one brother, Victor Roy Day of Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Oleta Richardson of Tulsa, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Renee Fox, Kyla Parr, Cody Cannon, Craig Cannon, Crystal Cannon, Brooke Moody and Garrett Day; and 15 great grandchildren, Samantha, Sidney, Sawyer, Berkley, Knox, Nash, Jayden, Rylen, Brycen, Kierra, Carson, Mackinley, Mason, Miles and Jillian.
