Obituary

Suzanne Davis, 94, of Hale Center passed from this life on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013. A graveside service will be held at Hale Center Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. followed with a memorial service at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at First United Methodist Church in Hale Center. The Rev. Jimmy Cameron will officiate, under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. A visitation will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. today at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview. Suzanne was born to Silas and Sue Mag Maggard on March 28, 1919, in Hale Center. She married Wesley Madison Davis on June 5, 1938. Together, they worshipped at First United Methodist Church. Suzanne dearly loved her church family and small-town life in Hale Center. She rarely missed a sporting or school event, especially if her grandchildren were participants, and she always cheered for the Hale Center Owls and Texas Tech Red Raiders. Suzanne was a true patriot, and one classy lady. Wesley and Suzanne celebrated 56 precious years of marriage together, before his passing in 1994. They enjoyed reunions with the U.S. Navy Seabees and attended many cotton cooperative and hospital conventions. Their cabin in the Pecos Wilderness was enjoyed by family and friends. Survivors include her children, Daphne Ashburn and husband Jackson, Arden Davis and wife Sandra, all of Lubbock, and Alan Davis and wife Kathy of Hale Center; one sister, Flora Maggard, who calls Hale Center home; and seven grandchildren who affectionately called her Tutu: Jared Ashburn, Allison Ashburn, Casey Davis and wife Kristen, Chad Davis, Lindsay Grannan and husband Matt, Matt Davis and wife Jaimie, and Clint Davis. The family suggests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1258, Hale Center, TX 79041, or a favorite charity . Online condolences may be made at www.kornerstonefunerals.com.
