Obituary

Funeral services for Dyvena Mae Evans Davis, 88, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Abernathy with the Rev. Jerry Don Cheshire officiating and Erin Hunt assisting. Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. today at the home of Jimmie Davis in Abernathy. Mrs. Davis died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at Runningwater Draw Care Center of Olton. She was born Jan. 23, 1918, in Roswell, N.M. She had lived in the Amarillo area since 1925. She married James Willis Davis on Nov. 27, 1936, in Lubbock. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie and Gale Davis of Abernathy; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Billie and David Dean of Halfway and Betty and L.D. Ballard of Rockport; one brother, M.D. Evans of Abernathy; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Her husband; one daughter, Sherry Gail Davis; two sisters, Lelia Knutson and Tootsie Smith; and two brothers, Doyle Evans and Marvin Evans, are deceased. The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
