Davis, Horace, Mrs. (Alberta Adkisson)

Services for Alberta Adkisson Davis, 91, of Abernathy will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003, at First United Methodist Church of Abernathy with Rev. Russ Byard, pastor of Muleshoe First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home. She died July 16 at Quail Ridge Care Center in Lubbock. She was born Sept. 3, 1911, in Colinga, Calif. She graduated from Texas Tech with a teaching degree in the mid-1930s, and taught school in Springlake- Earth. She married Horace Davis on Oct. 5, 1938, in Abernathy. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was active in the Abernathy Senior Citizens Association. She is preceded by her husband, Horace, who died in 1997; a son, Kenneth Royce Davis, who died in 1961; and a sister, Wilma Jones. She is survived by a sister- in-law, Jo Davis of Amarillo; a nephew, Wayne Jones; three nieces, Lana Peterson, Mary Nell Taylor, and Shirley Brown; cousins, Gid Adkisson Jr. of Abernathy and Alice Richter of Petersburg; and several great- nieces and nephews.
