Graveside services for John Max Davey, 79, of Plainview will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Parklawn Memorial Gardents with Dr. Gene Perry officiating. Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at Bartley Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. John passed away on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, in Plainview. He was born on June 9, 1933, in Parker, Kan., to Glenn Davey and Opal McCarty. He married Shirley Sands on Sept. 25, 1955, in Osawatomie, Kan. He was a custom harvester for 55 years, an Army veteran and deacon at Seth Ward Baptist Church in Seth Ward. Survivors include his wife Shirley of Plainview; two sons, Mark Davey and wife Julie of Amarillo and Bryan Davey and wife Staci of Alva, Okla.; one daughter, Gayleen Garrett and husband Joe of Plainview; three sisters, Barbara Jackson and husband Jim of Plainview, Evonna McIntosh of Wichita, Kan., and Joyce Burns of Gladstone, Mo.; five grandchildren, Lynton Garrett, Layton Garrett, Whitney Judd, Tim Davey and Nick Davey; and three great-grandchildren, B.J. Davey, Opal Davey and Jaxen Judd.
