Obituary

Graveside services for Nell P. Daffern, 89, were at 11 a.m. Saturday in Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Daffern died Friday, Dec. 23, 2005, in Prairie House Living Center. She was born Dec. 16, 1916, in Snyder. She moved north of Hale Center at a young age and attended Hale Center schools. She married Wilson Walter Daffern on Oct. 2, 1934, in Clovis, N.M. He died June 7, 2000. She was a member of First Baptist Church and Order of Eastern Star and had received her 50th-year pin. Survivors include one son, Fred Daffern of Lamesa; one daughter, Opal Zeleny of Plainview; three sisters, Jeffie Lee Turner and Frances Tschirgi of Plainview and Winnie Gonce of Hale Center; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
