Leola Adell Green, 92, of Plainview, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013, in Plainview. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Bartley Memorial Chapel with Johnny McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview. Leola Adell Green was born in Weatherford, Texas, on Aug. 10, 1920, to John Lewis and Nancy Clay McCarty. She was raised in Plainview and graduated from PHS in 1939. She attended beauty school in Lubbock after graduation, and married John Elsworth Green on Oct. 4, 1941, in Yuma, Ariz. The couple resided in San Diego, Calif., before moving back to Plainview in 1945 and took up farming north of Plainview until 1978. Mr. Green passed away in 1987. Mrs. Green married M.T. Cruse in 1988 and resided in Plainview and then Lubbock until his death in 1993. She moved back to Plainview in 2002. Adell was a lifelong member of the Ninth and Columbia Church of Christ. Her greatest pleasure was cooking and baking for family and friends. She was a homemaker most of her life, although she worked at Penney's Department Store during the late 1960s. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law Richard and Eva Green of Plainview, Dan Green of Dallas and Ronny and Rhonda Green of Plainview; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Jo Ellen McCarty of Conroe. She had eight grandchildren, Kenny Green, Melissa Brumbelow, Jeff Green, Jarrett Green, Byron Green, Crystal Green and Melanie Green. She had nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Lewis and Nancy Clay McCarty, husband John E. Green, second husband M.T. Cruse, brothers Jack and Raymon McCarty, and sisters Stella McCarty and Alta Schmalzried.
