Katherine Cross

Funeral services for Katherine Cross, 84, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist
Church with Dr. Max Browning, pastor, and the Rev. Paul Cypert, pastor of Harvest
Christian Fellowship, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons
Funeral Home. Mrs. Cross died at 8:18 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2002, in Covenant Hospital
Plainview. She was born Feb. 12, 1917, in southeast Nolan County. She grew up in Dora
where she attended schools. She moved to Hale County in 1943 and farmed in the East
Mound community for three years. She moved to Snyder in 1948 and to Plainview in 1979.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church since 1943 and a member of
Hooten-Dean Bible Class, Gladys Carter Circle, Sanctuary Choir and Snyder Home
Demonstration Club. On Dec. 10, 1932, she married Lemuel Raymond Cross in Dora. He
died Feb. 23, 1979. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Joe Leach of
Plainview; a sister, Jean Tyrone of Irving; two grandchildren, Mark Leach and his wife
Kathy and Marla Maresca and her husband Trey; and four great-grandchildren, Christopher
Leach, Stephanie Leach, Shelby Maresca and Abbey Maresca.
