Obituary
Ben Allen Cross, 51, Plainview, passed away at Covenant Hospital Center, March 16, 2014. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at College Heights Baptist Church, Plainview, with Rev. Don Robertson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home. Ben was born Dec. 28, 1962, in the former Methodist Hospital, Lubbock. He grew up in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School. After living a large portion of his life in East Texas, he recently returned to Plainview in order to help his parents. Ben loved his family, the outdoors and riding motorcycles. He had a kind heart. While living in Mexia, Texas, Ben saw opportunity and proceeded to collect school supplies for disadvantaged families. Before long, the supplies grew into a truckload of donated items, and over the next few years, Ben was able to help supply schools in the area. He is survived by his parents, Billy Joe and Phyllis Cross of Plainview; two brothers, Brad and Brent Cross; one daughter, Bridget Cross of Houston; his companion, Rhonda Saveedra; two nieces, Krista and Kendra Cross of Plainview; four grandchildren, Ambry Valdez, 12, Peyton Valdez, 7, Elijah Valdez, 5, and Maddix Elledge, 18 months, all of Houston; one nephew, Blake Cross; two great nieces, Allie Tate and Kylie Carter; one great nephew, Tyler Hembree; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
