Critchfield, Tom, Mrs. (Ruth Gillilan)

Graveside services for Ruth Gillilan Critchfield, 98, of Olton, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Plainview Cemetery with the Rev. Sharon O'Quinn Wiese, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Olton, officiating.

Burial arragenments are by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home.

Mrs. Critchfield died at 2:20 p.m. Sunday, Feb 1, 2004, in Runningwater Draw Care Center in Olton.

She was born Aug. 24, 1905, to John George and Essie Elizabeth Roone Gillilan in Johnson County, Mo., near Columbus. She moved with her family to Hale County in 1919 and graduated from Plainview High School. She had worked as a legal secretary.

She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church in Olton.

On Dec. 28, 1924, she married Tom Critchfield and they began farming in the Olton Halfway area in 1932. He died in 1979.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Delbert Howell of Olton and Nancy and Roy Jones of Dripping Springs; a son and daughter-in-law, Tracy and JoAnne Critchfield of Hurricane, Utah; for grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Runningwater Draw Care Center, P.O. Box 409, Olton TX 79064; or to a favorite charity.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.
