Obituary

Betty Jo Criswell, 82, of Plainview died on Thursday, April 18, 2013, in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Garland Street Church of Christ with Minister Steve Gauntt officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Betty was born Feb. 13, 1931, to James and Lorene Adkins in Haskell, Texas. She grew up in Haskell and graduated from Haskell High School in 1949. She attended Texas Tech School of Nursing and became a licensed vocational nurse. She married Elmer Lee Criswell on Aug. 13, 1951, and became a homemaker and a mother. She later obtained her real estate license and sold real estate for several years. They lived in Floyd and Hale counties. She was a member of Garland Street Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Eva Dunnam; and a nephew, Jim Dunnam. She is survived by her husband Elmer Criswell of Plainview; two sons, David Criswell and wife DeAun, and Don Criswell, all of Plainview; three grandchildren, Taryn Minter and husband Chad of Conroe, Todd Criswell of Plainview and Ty Criswell and wife Chelsea of Plainview; and one great-grandchild, Delaney Minter.
